Training of Individuals

In cooperation with national and international universities, ECT offers training opportunities for young scientists, engineers and technicians from Germany and abroad. In particular, practical courses and internships, usually ranging from 1 – 6 months, as well as scientific experimental work for Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degrees are possible. Details of such a stay have to be clarified at least three, better six months in advance since space is limited.
Training of Groups
Together with about 10 other German institutions (mostly universities), ECT is a partner of the PGS (post gradual studies) initiative in ecotoxicology, jointly organized by the SETAC German Language Branch (SETAC GLB) and the Society of German Chemists (GDCh). In close cooperation with the Rhein-Main University (Wiesbaden-Rüsselsheim) we have performed three courses in terrestrial ecotoxicology since 2006. In each event, consisting of theoretical lectures and practical exercises (one week each), about 20 people from universities, agencies or industry have learned, for example, about the fate of chemicals in soil, effects of pesticides on non-target arthropods or basic quality assurance requirements when performing ecotoxicological tests in the laboratory or the field. In addition, ECT is frequently involved in training courses or workshops performed at various locations. For example, courses on the “Methods and Strategies of Risk Assessment of Contaminated Land” were given in Coimbra (Portugal) in 2005, in Curitiba (Brazil) in 2008 or in Beni Mellal (Morocco) in 2010. Individual training directly at interested institutions (e.g. agencies or industry) are also possible.
